Options To Consider & Frequently Asked Questions
Would you recommend having a second shooter?
Second shooters are useful for a number of reasons, especially if you have a lot of guests and a lot going on.
One advantage is that each of you can have your own photographer for the getting ready stage of the day, leaving opportunity for the second also to capture guests arriving and the hubbub of activity before the ceremony.
Other advantages usually mean more natural shots throughout the day, extra angles on important parts and (usually) an accidental comedy double act to help make you laugh and keep it all a lot of fun!
An entire blog post to help you decide if you will benefit from a second photographer, take a look, get in touch and we can go from there.
What does a pre-wedding / engagement shoot involve?
These are done usually a couple of months before your big day at the same time as your pre-wedding meeting. During this meeting, we can go through everything about your day in more detail, from why you chose your venue to naming the group photographs you both want to have taken.
Doing this means I can liaise with your venue staff and between us we can take concerns for the running of your day away from you. I always keep a sharp eye out for interesting light and weather conditions to add something special to your photographs and I cannot promise that I won’t come running up to you during your meal slightly excited about an unexpected rainbow or an evening sunset outside your venue (coming with me is always optional!)
The shoots are usually done in the gorgeous surrounding countryside around my studio in the Beds/Cambs countryside and often take advantage of gorgeous natural events like poppies and bluebells. Occasionally couples have something specific in mind for a location; somewhere that means a lot to you both and I am very happy to shoot these for you too! It can be as ambitious as you like and although expenses may be involved, the more exciting a location is it, likely the more flexible I will be to shoot in it.

What if the weather turns on the day?
I have invested in training, equipment and experimenting with willing subjects to ensure that I can still do my best work even when light and weather might be against us. If you are getting married in the middle of summer and it suddenly turns into a deluge, do not panic as I can still capture beautiful images.

What's the difference between natural & directed?
Its all just good photography - but some couples want me to emphasise one or the other. I dont mind at all as I love to take all the pictures! A full article explaining different photography styles has been created for this very purpose. Take a look and have a browse through our galleries to decide which is best for you and your wedding.
Most couples go with a mixture of styles which certainly keeps me on my toes!
We are just gathering ideas, nothing planned yet...
Alright, so not really a question, but I would suggest hopping over to my blog for some ideas and inspiration!
Real weddings, advice on planning and timing your wedding and other resources are available to help.
Can you photograph a winter wedding?
I have invested in training, equipment and experimenting with willing subjects to ensure that I can still do my best work even when light and weather might be against us. It is just a completely different set of rules when shooting on a warm summers day with your guests sipping bubbly and playing lawn games compared to how it can be on a stormy winters day.
I love to do out of season weddings! Guests being given tiny mugs of soup for canapés, candlelit reception rooms with roaring fires, packed dancefloors and hooded bridal capes! I enjoy the challenge of a winter wedding, always wanting to create something magical for my couples and even qualify for a discount!
Of course, if you are getting married in the middle of summer and it suddenly turns into a deluge. Do not panic as I can still capture beautiful images.

“But I don’t really like being in pictures”
Well, perhaps not, but you will be pleased to know that this is how the vast majority of my couples feel! In fact, pretty much everyone who comes through the studio door likes to greet me with this information. That’s ok, because I really like taking pictures of you, in other words you won’t get much of chance to be worrying about how you look because I will be moving us through tonnes of different, naturally directed images and it's my job to make sure that you look your best.
If you don’t like your picture taken, you may consider a pre-wedding or engagement shoot to be ‘your own personal idea of torture’. However, it is designed to be the complete opposite and make you feel far more relaxed and natural in shots on the wedding day.
Do you have other suppliers you recommend?
Yes! I am always happy to help my clients find great suppliers, the right suppliers for you can mean happier couples, happier guests and therefore better pictures!
I have worked with some amazing suppliers over the years and have an article listing some of my favourites to work with. This list is updated regularly as I am introduced to fabulous individuals, services and businesses - if you cannot find what you need, feel free to get in touch.
Can we see some real weddings?
Yes of course, we often have weddings featured in blogs and some of my couples are happy to allow prospective couples to access larger galleries of their weddings.
We also feature real weddings on the blog, great for seeing more images and for ideas and inspiration.
Do you sell albums and wall products?
Yes! We have a comprehensive range of quality albums and display products for you to make the most of your beautiful wedding photographs.
Anything from albums, to canvasses, memory boxes, signing frames and our stunning arcyclic orb range. More inspiration and information about albums and products can be found here.
